If you haven’t guessed based on the title of this post, we got a BFN on the pregnancy test following our last IUI. We were really hopeful about this last IUI, but it is apparently not in God’s plan for us to get pregnant through an IUI. Continue reading “Well, That Didn’t Work”

Half Way There!
We are now a little over half way through our TWW! Six more days until we know if our last IUI has worked and we are pregnant. There can be a lot of anxiety during this wait, and it can sometimes feel like it will never end. Continue reading “Half Way There! “
Last IUI Two Week Wait
We are at our last Two Week Wait (TTW) for an IUI. We are hoping it is our last two week wait until we are ready to have another child, as well. The IUI went as well as it can. I am never going to say that it is a fun experience or that it is a comfortable one, either. To be honest, it kind of hurts both during the insemination and for about a day afterwards. Continue reading “Last IUI Two Week Wait”
All the Shots
My last post was “All the Doctor’s Appointments” because at the time we had an appointment every day. Now I’m taking a lot of shots and a lot of different kinds of shots. Let me back up and start at the beginning, Continue reading “All the Shots”
All the Doctor’s Appointments
This has been a week of doctor’s appointments. They started yesterday to see Dr. Amols to see how my body has been cooperating with the medications and see if we needed to up the amount of meds I’m taking. Continue reading “All the Doctor’s Appointments”
One Last IUI
So this is really going to be our last IUI. The statistics say that if an IUI doesn’t work after 4 tries the odds of an IUI working is less than 10%. This is basically because if it doesn’t work after 4 tries that means there is likely something else going on that is preventing us from getting pregnant. Continue reading “One Last IUI”
Other Options and Decisions to Make
We had our consult with Dr. Amols today to discuss other options if the next (and final) IUI fails. We got more information about our IVF options. There is the option that most people think of when they think of IVF, and that is to retrieve many eggs and fertilize them creating many embryos. These embryos are then frozen after they have grown 5 days and then thawed out 2 at a time when my uterine lining is optimal and transplanted in the hopes of one or both implanting resulting in pregnancy. The other option is retrieve many eggs and then freeze the eggs. We would then thaw 2-3 eggs and fertilize them then freeze the 5 days embryos and thaw them out for transfer when my uterine lining is optimal. Continue reading “Other Options and Decisions to Make”
Hurry Up and Wait
We are in another waiting phase of the infertility journey. That’s what this whole thing seems to be, hurry up and wait. We had another ultra sound on Friday to see what the progress of the most recent large cyst is. I had had some lower abdominal pain a few days prior that was a bit concerning, but it went away after a short time, so we are figuring that it was just a muscle pain of some kind. The ultra sound showed that the cyst was completely gone! Continue reading “Hurry Up and Wait”
Almost Done With The Waiting
We are getting every closer to finding out if this cycle worked for us.

We had 4 good follicles for the IUI and a 25 million count, so that is in our favor. A little less than a week from now we find out if we finally get a baby 🙂 Dr. Amols said that if the IUI doesn’t work this time it is likely there is something else going on preventing conception and we should do more tests. I started to wonder this cycle if it is possible my egg quality is crap since it takes so many more hormones to get my follicles fully mature, but the only way they have of looking at that is the blood test they did at the beginning and my age. Unfortunately our next step would be IVF or adoption, neither of which is really in our price range. We want to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this journey and hope we will have some good news to share in not too long.
So Many Hormones
Like the title says, I have taken so many hormones this cycle. Beyond the 3 doses of 100ui of Gonal-F that I was scheduled to take, I also ended up taking an additional 75ui of Gonal-F and 225ui of Follistim. The additional hormones were because during the 2 ultrasounds following the baseline ultrasound showed that the follicles weren’t quite growing as well as we wanted. With the additional hormones it looks like I will have 4 good follicles for tomorrow morning’s IUI. We are hopeful for this cycle and thank everyone for their continued support. I hope we will have some good new to share in a few weeks 🙂
