It’s that time again. My cycle has started anew and we are now going through our 2nd frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycle. I had my baseline ultrasound yesterday morning and started my medications. Continue reading “Starting Up Again”

News of the Sad Variety
We are finally ready to reveal our HCG results. As some people may have guessed, the HCG blood tests showed the FET did work. I was pregnant, and anxiously awaiting my 6 week ultrasound that would show how many babies we were expecting.
Transfer Day!
Today was transfer day! Not the worst experience I’ve had through this journey but was definitely not fun. You bladder needs to be completely full to help them find the uterus and to help flatten it out to make putting the embryo in easier. Continue reading “Transfer Day!”
A Date is Set
We had an ultrasound today to make sure I didn’t have any cysts we need to worry about before the frozen embryo transfer. Because of the holidays we have to wait until after the New Year for the transfer. Continue reading “A Date is Set”
The Retrieval is in Sight
We are getting closer and closer to the retrieval date! Our date has been set for Tuesday, November 8 at 12:15 PM. We are getting so close to knowing how many eggs we will have to work with. Continue reading “The Retrieval is in Sight”
Close to Half Way There
Week 1 of the IVF retrieval process is just about done. We had another ultrasound today and Dr. Amols said everything was looking good. We have 8 growing follicles on one side and 6 on the other with the largest being 10mm. Continue reading “Close to Half Way There”
Start of My Pin Cushion Life
Yesterday was the first of many blood draws leading up to our retrieval. In preparation for all of the blood draws I am making sure that I am very well hydrated. Being dehydrated can make it harder for them to hit the vein on the first try, so I’m drinking a lot of water. Continue reading “Start of My Pin Cushion Life”
All the Shots
My last post was “All the Doctor’s Appointments” because at the time we had an appointment every day. Now I’m taking a lot of shots and a lot of different kinds of shots. Let me back up and start at the beginning, Continue reading “All the Shots”
Unexpected News
We had yet another appointment with Dr. Amols to try and figure out why I haven’t gotten my period yet. It has basically been about 4 months since my last one, and with a round of birth control (to get rid of that cyst I had a while back) and two rounds of progesterone supplements to try and force my period to start, we have been befuddled as to what exactly was going on. Continue reading “Unexpected News”
Another Appointment, Still No Answers
We had another appointment with Dr. Amols on Tuesday. I am at cycle day 101 now which means it has been almost 100 days since my last period. This is particularly frustrating because we cannot start treatment again until it does start. It is also really frustrating because we still have no idea why it isn’t starting. I have finished one round of Provera, which should have started it, and only had brown discharge. I am now on a different medication which is a more natural progesterone. Dr. Amols said it is possible that my body has gotten used to the Provera which is why it didn’t work before. A downside of this new medication is that it makes me super dizzy. Thankfully I am supposed to take it at night right before I go to bed so I can sleep through the side effects. It seems like our next treatment cycle is never going to start. Sorry for the dramatics (or at least as dramatic as I get), just very frustrated this month (or 2 or 3 /sigh).
